Value of Deluxe vs Standard Edition?

Okay, to be fair I haven't done extensive research, though I've been interested in Fortnite for years. Could anyone who's played give some insight on the value of the additions the Deluxe pre-order pack offers over the Standard?

Specifically, items like the starter hero pack?

I'm not sure what advantage that offers... more character slots? Is acquiring new heroes hard or especially time consuming? Or is there simply some sort of statistical/cosmetic benefit to "rare" heroes?
