Iden's Fate & That Cliche Plot: Spoilers Ahead. I'm disappointed in the storygroup.

Spoiler

Tl;dr: The storygroup are children. We were misled. Dropped the ball. Fuck the Rebellion/Resistance.

Darth Vader. Starkiller. Agent Kallus. Sabine. Bodhi. Galen Erso, and countless others have left behind the Empire to join the Rebellion. I know many others are dissappointed as well. If the data leaks are to be true or if we're dealing with something other than infiltration into the Alliance, I'd say the writers missed a fantastic opportunity to truly explore the Empire. It's bad enough that she defects but mask the fact behind lies and misleading information is insult to injury.

I can conjure up all the quotes the developers said that points to Iden being a true die-hard Imperial with no hints to the ending. Hell the developer even said the Empire aren't the bad guys in the game and yet . . . We have another stupid pointless cliche unoriginal story about "redemption."

I get it we were told of a story of betrayal and redemption but seriously redemption could mean different things. We the hell do we have a main Imperial defect and turn bad?

Why don't the Rebels ever turn to the Empire? Why haven't that made a story about that? Cassian Andor was recruited when he was six and he committed horrible acts in the name of the Rebellion. Wasn't above assassinating an informant and admitted that he's sticking with the Rebels despite his actions. Why don't we see a stupid "Redemption" story for people like him?

It's ridiculous.

The writer for this story also wrote Spec Ops: the Line. It had a very good narrative and very good twist at the end. Is it so hard to have Iden infiltrate the Rebels and the twist be that she turns on them? KOTOR had a great twist. The Force Unleashed had a similar twist when we found out Vader wasn't truly on Starkiller's side even after his first betrayal.

Just because some fans don't like being Imperial because they think they're "evil" doesn't mean they have to shove that moral crap down our throats and ruin a perfectly good story. If Iden and the Inferno Squad are heroes of the Empire then why are they becoming terrorists?

I was stoked for the story. I truly thought I finally was going to have a favorite Star Wars character but alas. I'm not excited about the book as I was before either.

Thoughts on the campaign?
