Gsync with League?

I just got my first ever PC with a gsync monitor. I set up gsync as well as fast vsync in the nvidia control panel. However in league, my fps is uncapped and goes over 144 fps, I thought vsync would automatically cap my fps at 144? So I don't know if my gsync is working or not. Please advise me if I'm doing anything wrong.
