What is the maximum number of Pokemon that can be caught in 30 minutes by one player?
Given tomorrow's challenge where players have to catch as many Pokemon as possible during 30-minute time windows, it got me wondering what the maximum contribution is that one person can make.
Assuming:
-
A real person, not a bot
-
An unlimited supply of spawns
-
Enough balls to catch everything
-
All Pokemon are caught in one throw
-
No Pokemon run away
-
No lag
-
No GoPlus (although it would be interesting to also calculate with GoPlus)
These are fairly unrealistic assumptions but are necessary to calculate the maximum possible number of catches.
Has something like this ever been calculated? If not, how could it best be calculated? I know that the maximum number of evolutions per lucky egg has been calculated (I recall something like 60 per egg?) but I don't remember having seen a figure for number of possible catches.
Edit: Added the assumption of all Pokemon being caught in one throw.
Update: I just timed myself catching two Pokemon (Pidgey and Sentret, both were caught in one ball, neither were critical catches). I pressed 'start' on the Google stopwatch in my browser at the same time as clicking on the Pokemon, spun the ball fast 3 times and threw a curve ball (this is my normal catch style) and pressed 'stop' at the same time as clicking on out of the Pokemon screen as fast as I could. The first took 20.47s and the second took 19.86, giving an average of 20.17s per Pokemon. This would give a maximum of 89.2 Pokemon per 30 minutes (1800 seconds). However this not an accurate method because my sample size is small, I'm sure the ball can be thrown quicker, and my stopwatch method probably has an error of around 1-3 seconds.
Can anyone do better? :D
