Trafing in painted items

Do trading in painted or certified items make the changes if getting a painted or certified item from the trade in? For instance, I traded in Blsck SLK, White SLK, and some supersonic trails to get a Purple Animus GP. Would the same thing happen if I did it w/o the paints/certs?
