Outlook search indexing issue?

Started to index search on Outlook 2010. It said it was done, but when I open up Outlook and search, it just searches forever and doesn't bring anything up. When I look at index status under search options it gives me a different huge number every time, suggesting it is still in fact indexing, even though the indexing in control panel told me it was done

Does anyone know whats going on and what I can do to fix it? Can I end indexing somehow and start again?
