Thinking of moving here after I graduate. Got a few questions.
Right now I'm about to start my junior year at U of Utah, getting a degree in English. After I graduate I want to move to the northwest, mostly because rain and forests make me much happier than the desert. I've been to Eugene a few times since my sister moved there about a year ago. I love the city and surrounding area, but I want to hear from people who live there to get second opinions. I went to the "moving here?" thread, but seeing as how that was three years ago I thought I'd ask.
First, how hard is it right now to find work? I don't currently have a field I'm working toward, but I'll do just about any job I can get with my degree. My sister is an OT, but since I'm not getting a specialized degree she's not really the best person to ask.
Second, how expensive is it to live there? Not looking to live an extravagant lifestyle, the ideal for me is to have a place that isn't falling apart and enough spending money to go out once or twice a week. Totally happy to live with a few roommates.
Beyond that, are there any big negatives to your city? The homeless doesn't bother me too much; SLC has a huge homeless problem. I love rain, weed, and beer, and I've had a few people tell me that OR would be a great fit for me. Just wanted to do some research first.
