Are Indonesians camera shy?

I am going to study in Indonesia for the next 6 months and I wonder wheter it'd be a problem if randomly film beautiful locations and attractions in Indonesia. In countries like China or Vietnam nobody cares about being filmed, wheras in Europe where I live, you can't just go around filming people even if you're only interested in capturing the location or attraction they're in front of.
