my beta feedback posted on feedback forum on Bungie
My Thoughts on the Beta. I played on Xbox One on an Acer 27in Monitor.
Story: Great Narrative so far, keep it up! Everything should have a story! We will even write it for you! Lore contests! Free Labor so you can keep the Weasels our of the Servers!
UI: -Player inspection page should have option to invite player to party and invite player to party and game. -Perk selection on subclass should have darker border colors and more contrast to icons. -The HUD looks great the minimalist design is fantastic. -An option should be made available to read Grimoire text in bottom crawl form or in floating trading cards while in orbit. -A clarification of the weapon archetype next to the weapon text would help management. Ex: Eyasluna>Handcannon>Mid Impact -Numbers in black font should be at the end of the bars and a quick calculation in differences should be displayed when comparing weapons. -Emote Wheel PLEASE
Sound: -The Music and Effect noises sound very clear. -The respawn effect noise is giving me a little heart attack because it sounds too similar to a Guardian casting Golden Gun next to me.
Design: -I am looking forward to exploring Nessus and the other Crucible maps. I hope there will be less L shaped hallways and crouching corners to set up camp in. -Weapon design however is not on par with Destiny 1 in my opinion. A lot of the weapons look like modern stuff photoshopped. Take the weapon designers to a day out on the gun range more often to stir up more creativity. Yes I understand its based off of golden age designs but I have to come up for the lore in my head about the guns appearance since the game is not telling me. -Exotic weapons and armor should be the only loot with quotes and lore as its description. The weapon foundries should also have their distinct differences on the weapons they manufacture and it should be either explained through lore and reinforced in the weapon descriptions. -Armor design looks great and concur with D1. -When no shader is applied a weathered look should be an option to toggle on the Armor.
Armor: -A reroll perks node should be available on certain legendary armor especially Raid Armor. -Armor set perks should be considered and be purely cosmetic. -Wearing complete Faction armor sets should provide a faction specific respawn effect and sound.
Weapons: Weapons. The heart and soul of Destiny. A dissertation could be written on this subject alone. I wish weapon tuning should consider the following suggestions in the spirit of D1 Weapon Philosophies.
Auto Rifles- Effective Close to Mid Range, fast reload. Balance of Stability and handling. An Auto Rifle should melt a shield off an ultra and start work on the body. Pulse Rifles- Effective Close to Mid Range, Medium reload. Balance of Range and Handling. Scout Rifles- Long Range. Rewards Precision and pace. Should have Lowest Handling in all Game. Handcannons- Effective Close to Mid Range, Slowest Reload of all weapons in the game and least stability. Rewards Precision and Pace. Sidearms- Effective Close Range, lowest impact of all the game. These should have the fastest reload and handling speed in the game and should damage drop off begin the same range as the highest range shotgun does. This primary should be able to easily kill a trash tier goon but enough to pop a shield in one magazine. Submachine Guns- Effective Close range- Mid range harass but not conquer. The middle ground of a side arm and Auto Rifle. They should have a balance of Stability, Reload, and Handling. I feel these should be the most stable weapons in the game. Holding a submachine gun forces the Guardian to grip tight and focus the hose of bullets at their target. A submachine gun should be able to melt a shield and start work on the body. Fusion Rifles:Close to midrange. Equal devastation as a shotgun up close. Shotguns:Devastation at close range, Highest damage drop-off in all the game. Risk/ Reward. Sniper Rifles-Longest Range in the Game and should always reward precision and pace. Damage Drop off should be lowest in the Game. Rocket Launchers- Go Boom. No Damage Drop off or Arc ever. lowest ammo capacity in the game. Grenade Launchers-Should have minimum radial damage of 12m with a lower arc. Swords- Masters of destruction for lower tier goons. I should not two swipe a regular Psion ever with any sword. Heavy Machine Gun?Say it aint so and surprise us with their return! Variety is the spice of life.
As for the new kinetic, energy, power system. I welcome it with open arms. Just make sure ammo is abundant in PvE.
PvP: -The pace and new competitive feel to Crucible is very refreshing. Control feels more tactical and less random. -Countdown is equal to Trials on the stress meter. The maps will determine the success of this gametype. -I did not feel I was missing ammo in Crucible but I would like to be rewarded if I kill an enemy who did not use their heavy. Use it or lose it. Your hesitation will be your teammates punishment. If I kill a guy who didn't pull the trigger of a rocket faster than my action you should lose your heavy brick and I should pick it up. If I die with it after that then its gone. -Better rewards should be available to the top performer of each team. -Assists should clearly be displayed as Assists rather than a kill. -Shaxx dialogue is great.
Subclasses: All three new subclasses are very fun to play. They all look and sound great. A tutorial should be available on the subclass page on all the abilities with GIF examples.
Titan: -Sentinel Shield should not have the option to drop armor of light. It should drop it automatically and disappear when your super runs out. It will serve as a tactical choice of where to drop it in PvP and protection in PvE. -Striker should leave a brief electrical trail for callouts. -Third subclass should have dodge ability
Warlock: -Nova bomb needs option for a boost in speed in exchange for lower blast radius. -DawnBlade needs to be in all corresponding text and notifications not daybreak. Too Confusing. -Swords throw should drain super use a little more. 5 Sword Throws should be maximum.
Hunter: Dodge class ability is good but very self serving. A dodge at full super should provide a boost in speed and handling for nearby allies in exchange for 10 % of the Hunter's super charge.
Thank you Bungie for a great Beta and high hopes for a Great Game!
