Issues with the Batmud client?

I've been trying out various different MUDs to get a feel for the next one I want to devote most of my time to. I came across Batmud and wanted to take a look. I really prefer not to download java, so it was a relief that they have a javaless windows executable as an option for their client. However I'm having an issue after installation. If I try to run the client I see that the batmud.exe process starts up, but nothing follows. I've let it sit there for several minutes with no success. I tried to check the forums on their site, but it didn't seem to be an issue that was posted. The closest thing was someone suggesting to redownload the client. I wasn't sure if that was for the java or javaless, but I tried redownloading, uninstalling then reinstalling, and was met with the same outcome. The only thing I can think off would be if there was some issue with running that file on a 64-bit system given that it's a 32-bit executable. Though I've never really run into a problem like that in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Have now tried running as administrator and making an exception in my antivirus, with no success. Also tried this on another Win 7 64-bit machine and haven't had any luck there either.
