AC power cord for cannon printer

Open | Hardware

Description of problem

I lost my ac power chord for my cannon d530 printer. I plugged a similar, cord, which fits, from my studio monitor, and used that for the printer. now it makes an awful noise.

Other relevant info

Is it true, a slightly different chord could do that? It looks the same.
