Question about the freight team?

Alright, so I'm on the freight team, and I've been doing it for about a year and a half, lately there have been some frustrations where some of the crew isn't pulling their weight while others get stuck doing the most. Is there a difference between team lead and the normal freight associate? Is there any way to get promoted within the freight team? I ask because the supposed team lead in my crew walks around doing who knows what, saying that "freight supervisor, asm, and sm told him he's not supposed to fly anything" while there's about two or 3 people flying the entire store and just picking up slack at the end of the night.
