New subscriber interested in why many subscribers to this subreddit are still active in the church?

I'm a new subscriber to exmormon subreddit but have been visiting/reading over it for a while now. It seems like a fair number of subscribers who post are still active in the LDS church because they mention a shelf item that happened at church recently, or they point out something bizarre they observed when they were at the temple the other day, etc. So what gives? Interested in hearing reasons why some are still in it and obviously just going through the motions. Is it just really hard/awkward to escape at the present moment, and you're just waiting for the right timing to physically leave it? I guess a cult can really produce that effect...

Any personal thoughts or experiences are great if you wouldn't mind sharing!
