Going to college next year, I have questions about the kind of major I should go into based on my interests.

Hello! A year from now I will be graduating high school. Like many others, I am unsure of what to actually major in.

However, I have recently found a great interest in insects. I don't know what to major in if I want to learn more about these creatures or even find a profession in it.

I live in Ohio and it isn't too likely I'll be going out of state. Ohio State University has a major in entomology, but no other colleges I'm looking into offer it. EDIT: This is the only college in Ohio that offers this.

So, I have a few questions:

1. Considering how hard it is to get into OSU these days, what would be a more common alternative major?
2. What kind of occupation does being an entomologist bring about?
3. Other interests of mine include geology, art, and computers. How will I know which is best for me?

Thanks for reading, and replies are much appreciated.
