Goblin versus goblin in a fight to the death! Looking for a critique on this action sequence

Critique

This is in chapter ten, so I'll give a bit of backstory as to what's going on:

Weeblix, a goblin bounty hunter, has been on the road with his companion for nearly a decade, and hasn't even seen another goblin since he left the capital. When he returns to the capital, he finds that it isn't quite how he left it, and goblins--now ten years freed from slavery--had made a home out of the capital, as well as solidified a culture of their own. After finding himself in an unfortunate situation, Weeblix is pitted against and old rival he'd done his best to forget in a pit match. As his life hangs in the balance, the sight of the goblin stirs up many unhappy memories of his life in the slave mines.

I want to use this scene as a way of giving the reader some backstory on Weeblix and the trouble he faced in the past, and a look into how skilled he is as a fighter thanks to his time in the mines. A critique on the conflict, emotion, and danger of the scene would be appreciated, as well as any other general remarks. I would also be happy to trade critiques of similar length. Thanks!
