Stuck in Meditation?

It's been quite some time since I've played Enderal, and I was looking forward to getting immersed again. However, when I loaded up my old saves, not only were my character's skills back at base, whenever I tried to meditate, I could get in fine but never leave. I had meditate favorited, so it isn't an issue of not keeping it equipped. Is there any known way this issue is caused?
