I dont know what was worse

Vent

Being covered in sticky soda or the awkward silence on the way home.

Remember me posting in the Monday Mourning that I was dreading the solo pick up of my SKs from HC BM (that literally causes me anxiety attacks) because DH had to work? Well I suppose it could've gone worse but it was a diaster.

Prior to pick up I had just gone to the store and purchased two trays of pop for that hold 24 cans, placing them in back hatch area of my SUV.

At arrival I'm waiting in my car at the curb and out walks SS12 carrying part of his desktop computer, his SD is carrying the monitor. It occurs to me that this means SD is going to be approaching my truck. In an effort to avoid contact with him I push the button inside my truck that raises the back hatch door. Next comes a crash! One of the trays had slide out and crashed onto the ground in the road in front of thier house and in front of SD. So needless to say I had no choice to get out and sheepishly clean up that mess. Pop spraying all over me. Embarrassed as hell.

Then to make matters worse here comes BM who then stands just feet away watching the clean up. She came out under the guise of giving the kids their toothbrushes which was super obvious because for the last 8 yrs the kids have maintained their dental hygiene at our home without her sending anything. Even SS12 dismissed her saying he has a toothbrush at our home. Luckily she doesn't say anything to me but she doesn't have to, she knows her mere prescene makes both DH and I uncomfortable.

Then I drive the 30 mins home with soaking sticky feet and legs in awkward silence with my SKs. I couldn't drive fast enough, racing to pick up my DS who would break the tension and allow for conversation. Sometimes being the disengaged SM really sucks.
