How should I message my old best friend.

We were best friends in 9th, 10th, and beginning of 11th grade I'm in 12th now. We drifted apart last year after I transferred schools and didn't have access to the internet for a while.

Everything is back to normal now and I miss my best friend 😢. We messaged a couple of times but not that much last time I asked him to hang out he said he was busy and that was that.

How should I proceed from here. We're both dudes btw. I haven't had a friend nearly as good as him since.
