[Vent] USPS worker delivered a package inside my building to my apartment door holding mace ready to fire on my puppy

Vent

So this happened today, a few hours ago. A USPS worker was holding mace when I opened the door of my apartment to see who it was. The door was half opened and she saw my dog and already had the mace in her hand. She took a few steps back and said "I can't have that dog near me!" with the mace in a semi-ready to fire position (arm half up). I quickly closed the door (thank god I didn't let her out) and stepped outside. I live in an apartment building with a code on it, the only people who have ever knocked on my door are my neighbors, people I invite, maintenance and the UPS lady when i order stuff from Amazon. All these people love my dog. She's a half border collie/half black lab and literally has never met anything or anyone she doesn't want to be friends with.

I stepped outside and said "Are you carrying mace with you?" And she said "yeah I have three!" like it was some fun sort of thing. She said she's been attacked by 3 dogs already and doesn't take chances.

I sort of understand where she's coming from, but she's coming to people's front doors and there's going to be dogs. To group all dogs into a "ready to be maced" category is just wrong in my opinion. I feel like if she's been attacked by 3 dogs, and feels the need to carry THREE things of mace with her it may be time to find a new line of work.

I'm really quite glad I got the door closed, cause I spoke to my friend who told me they're federal employees and I would be in a heap of trouble had I attacked her for macing my dog, but honestly if that happened I don't think I would've considered her "status" as a federal employee, and probably would've hit her/thrown her down to defend my dog.

Anyways I just wanted to get it out there. I am considering calling USPS to complain about this person, I know the complaint itself won't get anywhere, I just hope enough people do it so she is removed from this line of work because I don't believe she should still be in it given her history and over-caution.
