Shhhh stop sharing the shitlord secrets of eating 5000 calories a day and never exercising or gaining weight.

They can also steal your gainz and be swole without lifting!

The downside is you only become a wizard if you remain a virgin by year 30 and you lose your magical powers by snoo-snoo.

Mage privilege is real... but man, our base strength stat is shit! Only recommended if you've played this game before. /s

Fat active transport. They use energy to send their fat (from an area of low concentration) to their friends (an area of high concentration).

This question for the ages baffled me too, so I have been embarking on an experiment where I consume less calories than I burn.

I'll let you know all know the result!

If it is anything like my experiment, it will result in weight loss. The plural of anecdote is not data though.

For the sake of my sanity I have to believe that posts like this are trolls... 😓

I usually assume that but am inclined to believe this comment is legit.

Unfortunately I think you're right 😓

Never attribute to malice what can equally be explained by stupidity.

"Never been scientifically established"... Just because you don't believe in facts doesn't make them any less true. We've known that eating less causes weight loss for hundreds of years.

thousands of years. At least as far back as the ancient greeks and probably further back than this.

Also that the earth was a globe and the heliocentric models. Both figured out by some Greek people at one point. Just because people don't like it doesn't mean it's wrong.

That's the great thing about science, it doesn't stop working because you choose to not believe in it.

They poop it out undigested due to, I assume, problems in their gastro-intestinal tract.

I actually do know someone who didn't gain weight despite eating a lot of food. Of course, they were also in the bathroom in agony a lot of the time then ended up in the hospital due to losing so much weight they went into actual, literal starvation mode. Turns out they had severe Celiac disease at a time when it wasn't that well known.

Or they are actually burning that many calories, it's just not obvious they are.

Right before my tremors became obvious I was losing weight, even though I was eating the same as before. When my tremors did become obvious the weight loss accelerated. Tremors, dystonia, muscle spasticity, fighting an infection, or recovering from surgery; all of those things can take significantly more calories than the average person might think.

Even the flu can make someone drop weight, when I had it I have a 103° fever and lost weight despite eating ~2000 or so a day when my TDEE is 1800 max. Googled it and apparently the bmr of a person rises something like 7% for every 0.5°C above base body temp so it was actually good I decided to eat more or I would have dropped an unhealthy amount eating 1200/day that week. Super interesting to see irl how illness and something as common as a fever affects how much energy you need.

Yep. There were weight loss drugs that worked really well by raising your core temperature. The problem is that that wasn't enough for some people so they took more than they were prescribed and cooked themselves to death.

After last night I know where excess food goes and it was not a good time

It is so sad that so many people seem happy to have a lack of agency in this regard. Like, they read one study/meme/article saying "caloric intake doesn't correspond to weight" and decide to believe that over everything else. When I started learning about calories properly, tracking my food and (now) losing weight, I was so happy because it meant I could do something about it! I had the power (sorry for the cheesiness . . .) Some of these people seem almost triumphantly apathetic. "Well, I guess I'm just doomed then haha pass the pizza."

Finally figuring out that "starvation mode" isn't real and that I won't magically put on tons of weight if I have a day of eating less (and can therefore compensate for occasional heavier meals by eating less the day before or after, or skipping lunch that day) was like being set free.

Hmm my weight loss is a mystery then. I thought it was because I ate less and exercised more but maybe it was what I thought was cheat days of eating pizza and cake that lost the weight for me because that's how my naturally skinny genetics work

I feel like this person watched a video like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRSeyCZwEUI and made no effort to understand the information, only clicking on it so they can have an excuse for their poor health decisions.
