A story about eviction

Edit: I live in US, this took place in KS.

TLDR: if I'm kicked out of a shared hotel room, what do I owe the person who kicked me out, and can my expenses after being kicked out be an argument to pay less?

So I'm a graduate student in an online course that requires that for two weeks in the summer, I attend school on campus. It is very far from home, so another student and I in the class agreed to share a motel room for the 2 weeks (wow was that ever stupid). I agreed she could ride with me to classes etc since I had a car and she didn't, and even took her to another location a few miles away just to help her out when she went away for The weekend.

We made it through the first 8 days, with her being very controlling and behaving as my "mommy."

Cut to Tuesday morning, when she mommies me again and I call her out on it. Control freaks get angry when you point out their behavior, and she immediately brought up what I owed her for the hotel room (I had already paid her almost everything I owed for the billing UP TO THAT POINT).

After some heated discussion, I asked her four times to please drop it for now. She refused and kept aggressively questioning me. I told her if she couldn't leave it alone for now like an adult just asked her to repeatedly, she could find her own ride to school.

She said that if I wasn't driving her to school, I could leave the hotel room. Since I am not on the bill, I felt I had no choice but to take her up on her offer, and that she had negated the contract.

I've since gotten accommodations for MORE money and less hotel. What exactly do I owe her if she cancelled the contract by kicking me out? And can any amount be canceled out by the expenses I've incurred?

This isn't an eviction. There is no landord/tenant relationship. How the room was reserved, for how long, and so on matter somewhat here.

Thanks for responding. She reserved the room for the two weeks with the agreement we'd split the actual cost.

I paid her all but $40 when she showed me the first bill.

So I know I owe her $40, but also know she will be billed for some more nights that I stayed (as they only bill after every 5 nights).

The issue is bc she put me out, I paid more than expected per night for a crappy hotel (of course so did she, but didn't she take on that responsibility when she put me out?)

If she came after you for the remainder, you could counter with she kiced you out of the room. Your best is probably just cut ties with her, and only engage her if she tries to sue you for the remainder.
