1999 CL600 vs 2001 CL600... Advice?

I've got a 500 mile round trip commute twice a month and I want a comfortable car. I'm considering a 99 CL600 with 60k miles and a 2001 CL600, also with 60k miles each priced around $6,000. Both look cosmetically pretty nice.

I'll have to travel pretty far to drive both, so before I set out, what are people's driving impressions of these two cars? The later car is down by about 30hp, will that make a difference?
I prefer to DIY maintenance, and this is a second car, so what are they like to service at home?

I'm used to maintenance intensive cars and I have the budget for it, I'm curious to get some ideas before I check them out.
