[OC] Monster Brewery - A Java-Based Statblock creation tool

OC

Hello everybody, I recently created Monster Brewery, which is a java-based application that allows you to input stats and information of a monster, then render a statblock of it as a .png file.

GUI Preview

Simple, Example Output

Features:

  • GUI application (including support for OS X menu bar)
  • Save, load, render preview and render to file (complete with control/command shortcuts)
  • Support for basic information, damage modifiers (e.g. condition/damage immunities), different action types, reactions, generic traits/abilities, spellcasting classes, and legendary actions
  • Challenge rating calculator per the DMG rules. It will do its best to read the average to-hit values and damage per turn, but it will give you the chance to manually correct the numbers before calculation in the event of it misreading them.
  • Suggestions for spell names based on a spell level and spell slots depending on spellcaster level
  • Supports HTML markup in text bodies for areas like reactions, legendary actions, and manually entered actions.

This was created as an alternative to the really useful Monster Maker, because I use OS X and Linux, but MM only worked on Windows. My original plan was to fork that project and make an OS X version, but I'm not familiar with Visual Studio, so I just made one from scratch in Java.

If you're comfortable with Java, pull requests are welcome and encouraged! I monitor the Bug Tracker on GitHub, so if you encounter an error, please report it so it can be fixed; suggestions are, of course, also welcome.

Happy Delving, my friends!
