So when fighting Primals. Are we alone or not?

Sometimes the way the MSQ brings you to the primal fight they seem to say we are fighting alone. Sometimes they say we are with adventurers.

But like 90% of the time we reap the reward from the others as if we are alone.

I know the part of the echo, but the fight where we win the first time. Are we technically alone or with others? It's the only part that confuses me.
