Aging Whites and Oolongs

Question/Help

I want to buy some white and oolong teas for aging over the next 5-10 years. It seems like a fun hobbyist experiment and will hopefully lead to some tasty teas down the road.

I’ve seen this come up on r/tea before, but no definitive answers: (1) What makes for a good ageable white or oolong tea? (2) What’s the best way to store teas for aging? (3) How long should I let them age?

From what I’ve read online, both white and oolong teas should be aged in airtight containers, somewhere cool and dry, for 5-10 years, even more for oolongs. For whites, Shoumei and White Peony apparently age better than Silver Needle. (Something about leaves aging better than buds?) For oolong, more oxidized and more heavily roasted teas will age best, though (under the right conditions) you should be able to age anything.

Anyone have any experience aging non-puerh tea? Anything else I should know?
