Solo Machamp Raids

TL;DR is confusion really that useful on glass cannons?

So I have been able to successfully solo all Machamp movesets with up to 30sec left. With all the T5 raids I've stockpiled TMs so I switched my ZH/P espeon to C/FS and P/FS Ala to C/FS (this one was to replace an exeggutor).

This morning I couldn't manage to solo C/DP in spite of having technically better Pokemon. For one thing it was very laggy in spite of having a high end phone. I found that having the extra glass canon was having me run out of attackers. I switched back to using the extra exeggutor and used the same team order that I formally used. In spite of this, I still couldn't do enough damage to win.

While the lag seemed to be a bigger issue than normal, I'm wondering if having a faster quick move is worth sacrificing some DPS. Often I was locked into a confusion while Machamp fired a DP. Each espeon/ala could only get 1FS each. If I slowed down and tried dodging more I'd run out of time.

How much worse is Psycho Cut or Zen Headbutt in terms of weave DPS? Do you guys just learn how to manage with confusion or are people using the 2nd best moveset to increase damage by lasting longer in battle? Or is it just a matter of me learning a new strategy with the new movesets?
