Advice - Do landlords sometimes let you sign a lease by yourself to a X bedroom apartment, and help you fill in the other rooms?

Exactly like the title says. My current lease will be up in a few months and I want to get 2-3 bedroom apartment. I don't have any friends also looking for housing during the same time period. I wanted to see if it's common for landlords to allow people to sign a lease without having a full party of tenants all at once, and then find the rest of the roommates for you, WITHOUT you accepting the financial liability of paying more rent if tenants don't fill the rooms in the first few months.

I can see for a range of reasons why landlords WOULDN'T do this, but wanted to see if it's common. Also wanted to know what other alternatives are if you want to share an apartment, but don't have anyone to search with. Thanks!
