My First Triathlon...Better than expected!

Completed my first ever triathlon (Olympic) this weekend at the ripe ol' age of 40-something.

Everything was better than expected. Race-day weather. My personal race time. The beer I had when I got home.

But the best part? The people.

Event staff, volunteers, fellow competitors. Hard to find a nicer group of people. Folks just started talking to each other everywhere. Walking to the race from the parking lot. In the transition area. In the line for the bathroom. At the water. Can't think of a time when people were that friendly. This intimated newbie is very grateful. If you're planning for your first, plan on chatting people up throughout the day. It is ssssoooo helpful.

I have a host things I could share about what I learned while training and on race day. Maybe for a later post.

But for now just want to say thank you to the anonymous community of Reddit for making so many insights available and to the local community of athletes who were so welcoming.

And although there isn't a muscle that doesn't hurt right now, I'm already scoping out my next race.
