I need help.

I'm jumping into digital art for the first time. I have chosen the Windows surface Pro for my tablet, but I'm having trouble choosing a program. Photoshop seems to be popular, but I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for. Im more of a realist artist, so I need something that will let me mimic pencil and paint work. If you go to my user name, you can see some of my work. I'm not sure if style dictates what type of program to get. I would really love suggestions. Thank you!
