[SV] Set a maintaince goal and kept it!

nsv

I started losing losing back in January, at first I was just doing CICO, and was doing it kind of half-ass. Then a couple weeks later I got diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes with an A1c of 8.7. I stepped up my game and cut out sugar and lowered my carb intake (lazy keto, really). By my next appointment in April My A1c was 5.8, and my weight was down 41lbs. I was 240 when I started and was 199 (gotta hit that onederland!) by April. I decided then to stall on the next forty pounds to see if I could go 3 months without counting calories or weighing my portions and still maintain. I set the goal as August 1st, with the caveat that if I ever stepped on the scale in the morning and saw 205lbs I would start back up.

Well today is July 31st and I stepped on the scale and it said 201lbs. I was able to maintain for three months. I now feel extremely confident about the next 40lbs. I think the real key to my maintenance was sticking to food I ate during my calorie counting period and still walking a mile during my lunch hour. I still tried to estimate my serving sizes without weighing them, and at restaurants I stuck with food I identified during the calorie counting period as decent stuff to have. Cutting the carbs and eliminating sugar also really helped as carbs (damn you flaming hot Cheetos!) are a huge trigger food for me.
