Backup/Wife/Friend loaner marker - Etha2 vs Etek5 vs EnMey Pro
Hey all! This isn't another "which marker is better" thread, since the requirements for this loadout are a little different.
I currently own a balls-out E2 cocker, and I'm looking for a marker than can operate as a backup. This should be easy to maintain, reliable, and not gimp me if the 'cocker requires maintenance on game day.
Further, this will be the platform that I lend to my wife and/or friends when I take new players out to play - so it must be durable and simple to operate/adjust.
The Etha2 was an obvious frontrunner, as it satisfies all of my requirements handily. However, it isn't as customizable as an Etek 5, and I don't believe they make an OLED board for the Etha2 (yet?). The colors offered aren't great for the wife (she likes red), but would be nice for my more milsim friends in the HDE color.
The Etek5 is something I've wanted for a while. I could go with a large variety of color combos, and the ones on ANS come with that milsim tack-on thing for scenarios/milsimmy type people. I like the external moving parts as well, and the option to upgrade to an OLED board. But how durable are they? For the Etek5 + OLED option, I'm looking at like $700 vs the $400 of the Etha2. Not an insane difference, especially since it gives me two tournament markers, but am I going to worry about handing it to an inexperienced player to use for a full day?
Then, of course, we come to the EnMey. I like the POPS and Freak of the Pro, seems worth it for the $100. They're bulletproof and require little maintenance, making it great as my loaner. However, if the cocker goes down, am I going to hate life using it?
Curious what y'all would do in my situation. Assume money isn't tight, but I'm not trying to flush cash down the toilet either.
