Best soil to use for indoor succulent plant? I'm afraid of gnats. Zone 7a if it matters. (Will xpost with /r/indoorgarden)

tl;dr Soil brands seem to have fungus gnat problems, but I'm keeping my plant indoors. What soil brand can I use that is least likely to have this problem?

Hey everyone,

I have an indoor succulent plant. It definitely needs to be transplanted into a new pot because it's growing quite big!

I have the new pot and everything; I just need the soil. I've been reading up on what soil to use...I was just going to go with the standard Miracle Gro, because that's what my parents use and they have an amazing garden.

Except, I heard that lots of people have problem with fungus gnats when they use this soil! This seems particularly annoying for indoor plants. I tried finding some other soil brands and it seems to be an occasional problem for those brands, too.

I know I can just put traps out, but I'd really like to avoid this problem. My apartment is small!

What kind of soil can I use for my succulent plant that typically doesn't have any gnat/bug problems? I heard mushroom compost, but I can only find 30lb bags of it (and I don't need that much).

Thanks in advance!
