Help me remember a mvoue

Back in the 90s I remember watching a movie about the space program the movie went into detail about the Apollo missions and the race to the moon. I remember one of the main characters had a habit of bouncing a ball against the wall of the rocket assembly building and the Apollo 1 fire was in the movie. Did some research and I can't find this movie. I think it came out around the time Apollo 13 did because until my rewatch of 13 last night, I thought they were the same movie. Anyone know the movie, I would really like to find it and watch it again.
