Windows DNS resolving to incorrect URL

I have a DNS entry help.domain.local that resolves correctly if using the full FQDN, but if i use just 'help', it will resolve in the browser to: settings/help

There's no DNS entry called 'settings', so i get this error:

This site can’t be reached

settings’s server DNS address could not be found. Search Google for settings help ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Any idea why this is happening and how to resolve it? It's only happening with this specific DNS name, and i've deleted and recreated it both as an A and CNAME record and same behavior.
