Dog with allergies- what options are there?

Species: Dog

Age:2

Sex/Neuter status: Neutered male

Breed: Pointer mix

Body weight: 37 lbs

History: Since he was a puppy Bowser has had issues with allergies. We have reached a point where daily Apoquel and a bath with medicated shampoo about once a week seems to help keep him comfortable, although still an itchy boy.

Clinical signs: He seems to be having a flare up. it started with his paws being red and irritated and now they are just getting worse. We are trying to give him a bath every few days to wash off the allergens. We have been giving him 40mg benedryl in the morning and before bed. He is itchy all over, particularly his face and ears, and obviously his paws the way he has been pestering them. We have briefly tried coconut oil in his food, raw goats milk, and blueberries, all in attempts to help him.

I did make a vet appointment but I am wondering what options there are? We never did a food elimination due to practicality but also because his allergies seem seasonal- we've gone almost a year with no issues. My in-laws who watch the dog simply would never understand that even 1 treat could ruin a food elimination trial.

Duration: 1 week or the flare up but he's had the allergies since he was a puppy.
