Mining laser question

I'm debating whether to make a mining laser or just continue using the digital miner. So first question is does the mining laser ever run out of ores to mine? Or does it just continually keep randomly generating ores as long as it's powered? Second question is that if I were to be using galacticraft, could I put the mining laser on my space station and have it work?
