AP Credit for PHYS 172

I am currently enrolled in FYE and plan on going into Mechanical. A got a 5 on my AP Physics C Mechanics exam and was wondering if I should use my credit or not? I heard PHYS 172 was a weed out class but would I still be successful in sophomore year physics without taking 172?
