[PSA] Sodium is important, but too much can cause weird things to happen
I've been having really weird issues the last three weeks. Things like my throat swelling up over night, but not being sick, or the tendons in my foot swelling up. I finally went to my GP last week, and we had a talk about what might be causing it. He's aware of my dietary choices, and supports them, but he asked to see my MFP information. Turns out I'd been consuming over 5,000mg of sodium per day.
Upon my doctor's recommendation, I ended up throwing away and remaking some food so that it had lower salt content. Turns out, this amazing spice that I recently found, along with some delicious chorizo sausage was causing me to go outside my safe zone for sodium. The spice itself that I had put on my veggies was 460mg per tsp, and I had seasoned both my lunch and dinner with it in some way.
The effects were not comfortable, but the rememdy is simple: lower salt and drink water. After three days, I'm back to normal, but it was a little bit of a shock to me to see the effect of not watching anything other than the major macros.
Good luck on your journey.
