I think || is probably what I was going for, but I wrote this a while back so I'm not really sure now. XD I can edit that to read
>:( || :)

and that'll come out as 139 instead of 137. Any suggestions on the
>my(me,you)

in regard to tweaking, while still staying under 140?

Oh! its a Smiley face || frowny face. I just couldn't see the emoticons because they were squished in.

I got most of it, and you're notation except the 2 i complained of is pretty read-able (although I'm used to || as 'or')

The entirety of the first line is my attempt at using math/equation-type notation to annotate the traditional wedding vows.

iCyou, = I take you

my(me,you), = to be (each other's)

have&hold, from(insertdate)>, = to have and hold, from this date forward,

+|-, = for better or worse,

$//$≜0, = for richer or poorer,

:(//:), = in sickness and in health, (it helps if you read it as emoticons and a double slash for the notation)

until(udeaths). = until death do we part

Then again, I'm not a math person by nature or training, so it's entirely possible I'm misusing some of the notation. The syntax was hard to get right, given the character limit, but glad you like it overall.

This is interesting, because the use of such absurd mechanics actually let a little heart-warming anxiety shine through the piece I honestly didn't expect.

>Please reply Y/N

holds the emotive key to the piece, and show that although this is fairly satirical in an almost 'whoa-im-so-past-marriage-and-other-forms-of-sincerity' way, it challenges its own notion of Ironic detachment in a subtle and nearly lip-biting manner.

Only real problems I have with the piece are located in the logical digestion of some of the syntax.

>my(me,you)

this is a bit weird, and I'm not sure if its successful in saying much

>:(//:)

don't know what this is

> $//$≜0

this is just funny as shit (love it)

Thanks for showing this one off.

Thanks! I'm nowhere near cummings' level, but it's wonderful to be compared with him. What you said made me think of whether punctuation itself can be turned into a minimalist narrative, though that's something I'd have to think a lot more on before trying to turn it into a piece.

This piece was partly an exercise in character limitations and partly just a bit of satire.

this is a really excellent piece imo !!! it kind of reminds me of ee cummings bc of the playing with punctuation to make something tiny tell a longer story, in a way? i really dig it !!!

>you can't memorize "fiejwpirje" as any coherent or cohesive word in a sentence.

Unless you're Icelandic or Welsh. Seriously, though - I get what you mean about the programming/phonetic aspect of the piece. The nature of the first line was intentional when writing - I was trying to make everything fit.

You've got an interesting point with the reading aloud, though - I'm not sure I'd say that every poem should be able to be read aloud. If so, I think it'd be interesting to hear an audiobook of 'the complete ee cummings'.

Cool poem, I just wish the first line were more decipherable to be read aloud. The final 3 lines work really well though especially with a programming linguistics type of line, but the lexicon and syntax of line 1 is just way too programming like to make any sense let alone to be memorized which requires some level of phonetic capability - you can't memorize "fiejwpirje" as any coherent or cohesive word in a sentence.

this is quite a creative piece, gwrgwir. I like the modernity of it, as I even use Twitter a bit. some symbols were a bit hard to understand, as I don't spend much time with emotes and such: I'll do some Googling. but I understand few of the symbols, and they add more humor to this nice parody of vows. some may even agree that this reads like a funny subtle satire.

As someone who's into programming, I love this.

iCyou, our(me,you), have&hold, from(insertdate)>, +|-, $//$≜0, :( || :), until(udeaths).
