Why did u/PoBPreviewBot show the wrong skill its message?

Currently, due to the way PoB works, I can only see stats for the skill that was active when the build was exported. If you want it to show the correct skill, make sure you export your character with that skill active.

If u/PoBPreviewBot's response was useless because it posted the wrong skill (eg lists the DPS of Temporal Chains) then that's a bug and you can post it here.

Is the code open source?

Any constructive criticism of the code is welcome, this is my first project in python of this scope so I'm sure there's a lot of easier or better ways to do things that I just don't know about.

Thanks, had some time to kill while I was waiting for patch notes :P

You know, since you already have it set up - could you have it output to a Google doc as well?

Basically the same data, in columns. Would make it very convenient to scan builds.

Thanks!

Really cool bot, definitely handy as someone who has no desire to stick in random builds into PoB. Neat idea.

Are you willing to link the source code for the bot?

Cool bot. Is there a way to display the %life the build has beside the life total? It's usually the first thing I look at when I open the "900k dps shaper viable builds" that all seem to have 130% life.

I was thinking about making it show the % life if the build has empty gear slots that could've had life on them, but otherwise total life is a lot more meaningful number.

Bug thread is locked, FYI.

Feedback. Can you update the DPS numbers to be in "x.yyy M DPS" number format when going above 1e6? Scientific seems unnecessary when almost all values will be in the 1M or 10M range. Also, "aaa.b k DPS" would also look nicer than printing the entire number.

Yes, I'm working on that right now. Intent is to show 3 significant figures with the "k", "m", or "b" descriptor as needed.

Bug thread is unlocked now.

God be with us if that's ever needed.

Heh, never hurts to future proof a bit :)

If you can two suggestions:

  1. add a direct link to the skill tree

  2. show the actual links used in the dps display

Most of the time that is THE info you want to grab for a build, tree and primary links.

Otherwise very nifty bot you made there aggixx.

Hey there Soggs!

  1. Can do, my thought is make the "Level xx" text in the header link to it but maybe there's a better place.
  2. I toyed with that when I was doing my mockup but I couldn't figure out how to show that info while maintaining brevity. One thing I've been considering doing is having the current reply link to a off-site comment that has a much more detailed breakdown with links, uniques, keystones, etc. But that's a big undertaking, I'm busy bug hunting for now.

The "Level xx" actually sounds like a good place. You may want to call it: "Level xxx (Tree)". My first though was the name itself but that should be the pastebin link as it is right now.

After some consideration, I would just add another small line below the current Uses per Second | Crit Chance | Crit Multi, that just starts "Supports: [,,,]" and lists them.

What I would not do, is link to off-site comment, with detailed breakdown, since that basically turns it into an online version of PoB or some kind of PoB Paste Viewer.

Last thing, that came to my mind, was adding a damage type breakdown in brackets behind the dps. Like "250k DPS (50% lightning, 30% phys, 20% cold)"

The only way I can get the supports listed briefly enough that Im satisfied with it is by using abbreviations for everything which a) means I have to write a dictionary of the abbreviations for everything and b) probably wouldn't be very noob friendly (although I could link to the wiki page of each gem).

Note that there is already a way to abbreviate supports using the same as the letter overlay in game. Also listed in the wiki.
