Respect Juggernaut! (Marvel 616)
"Nothing can stop the Juggernaut!"
Respect Cain Marko, The Unstoppable Juggernaut!
Bio: Beaten and bullied from a young age by his father, Cain Marko grew up with a massive amount of hatred for the world around him, especially his adopted brother Charles Xavier who his father loved more than him. When Cain and Charles were on a mission in Korea during the Korean War, Cain stumbled across an ancient temple which contained a huge, glowing ruby - the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak. Cyttorak (demonic ruler of an alternate dimension) had created the gem in order to transform a human host into an avatar of himself, as part of a bet with 7 other powerful demons. When Cain grabbed the ruby he was imbued with a nigh-infinite amount of kinetic energy and given a special suit of armor. He assumed the mantle of the Juggernaut, an ancient Hindu word meaning unstoppable force.
Driven by his master's will to spread destruction and fear, Juggernaut became a supervillain. Over the course of many years he battled with a number of superheroes (most often the X-Men, Thor, and Spider-Man) and often teamed up with a mutant named Black Tom, who became Cain's only friend. After Juggernaut angered Cyttorak by disobeying him he was stripped of much of his power, and his mindless need for destruction. During this time he served with the X-Men and New Excalibur, helping instead of destroying. This was not to last, as Cain was forced to make a new deal with Cyttorak in order to protect the X-Men from World War Hulk. Cain went back to his life of villainy, going through several power fluctuations and even serving with the Thunderbolts for a time. Currently Juggernaut, after renewing his pact with Cyttorak, is far more powerful than usual, but his whereabouts are unknown.
Powers: Juggernaut is extremely strong and nearly invulnerable. He is much faster than a normal person as well, although his speed is not amplified to the same degree as his other powers. Much of his durability is the result of his force field, literally a wave of pure kinetic force that he can use to push things away from himself. He is extremely resistant to telepathic attacks while wearing his helmet, but if it is dislodged he becomes much more vulnerable to them. He requires no rest, food, water, or oxygen. Juggernaut heals from wounds at a very high rate and can re-create pieces of his armor if they are broken. Juggernaut is incredibly heavy, in or out of his armor. Although he is certainly no genius, Cain is a smart fighter and reasonably skilled in hand-to-hand combat. When Juggernaut charges forward (one of his signature methods of attack) he channels infinite kinetic energy and is unstoppable by any barrier or physical force, although he needs a solid surface to stand on and some room to build up momentum before he becomes truly unstoppable.
Weaknesses: If his helmet is removed, Juggernaut has very low resistance to psionic attacks. He also loses his force field, and therefore most of his mystical invulnerability. His helmet is, however, extremely hard to dislodge. Current Juggernaut has negated this weakness.
Power Fluctuations:
Juggernaut has spent much of his career in a less-than-optimal relationship with Cyttorak. I will mark his feats while weakened in order to differentiate them from full-power Juggernaut.
-
His first drop in power happened when he gave his Crimson Gem to Black Tom, giving each of them 1/2 of the Juggernauts standard power. This weakness ended when Juggernaut reclaimed the gem and threw it into orbit. Feats from this period are marked with an A.
-
His second drop in power happened after he overrode Cyttorak's mental influence, angering the demon. This weakness ended after Juggernaut retrieved the gem and made a new pact with Cyttorak. Feats from this period are marked with a B.
-
His third drop in power happened after he briefly joined with the Enigma Force to become Captain Universe. Cyttorak was angered that he would serve a different entity and cut off much of his power. This weakness ended when Juggernaut picked up one of the Serpent's hammers and bonded with the ancient Asgardian demon Kuurth. Feats from this period are marked with a C.
-
His fourth drop in power happened after Cyttorak realized he was serving the Serpent instead of his normal master. Cyttorak cut off almost all of his power and made the X-Man Colossus into the new Juggernaut. This weakness ended when Cain (with the help of the X-Men) made a new deal with Cyttorak and was made back into the Juggernaut. Feats from this period are marked with a D.
