[Channel Critique] The Nintendo-themed Information Channel, "The Champion Eccentric"
Bonjour, mes amis!
My name is Quincy, now hoping to be known on YouTube as "The Champion Eccentric".
I began this channel on the recommendation of a university lecturer after seeing an assignment of mine. The assignment involved me presenting a company of our choosing and their use of the marketing mix. After a 10 minute abridged presentation (the time limit was 5 minutes), I was asked by a couple of students if I had a YouTube channel, and, seeing how passionate I was about Nintendo, was pushed to make a channel to talk about Ninty by the students and my lecturer.
So I decided to give it a try.
The channel is focused exclusively on Nintendo. Although I intend to produce many types of videos regularly (the details of which can be outlined in the intro video on the channel), my main focus is explaining various things or concepts with regard to Ninty or their IPs. Think in a similar vein to the YouTuber Swagkage and how he explains various concepts from the world of Naruto.
The channel seems to be growing disappointingly slowly and I'm not reaching the level of exposure I expected to receive after a couple of months. This leads me to wonder if I'm producing content for a non-existent audience. And so I've brought my questioning over to Reddit.
I offer this as my self review: I believe I go into great detail in explaining my subject matter, especially with regards to the Super Mushroom video. For that matter, the subject matter (Nintendo topics) is niche, methinks; it's not something that's done frequently, so I think I'm sort of unique in that respect. Although there is some room for improvement, I am VERY happy with my editing and special effects in the video (in particular the scene transitions in my live recordings), especially considering I'd never touched an Adobe product before making the intro video and the other content. My biggest concern is sound quality and consistency in achieving desirable results, especially apparent in the Super Mushroom video. I chalk that down to poor recording equipment and environments and an inability to upgrade (due to funding), but that's the biggest aspect that I want to improve. I also have some concerns with my line delivery at some points. I am comfortable in front of a camera and have no issues in that respect, but I'm aware sometimes I can sound muffled or I speak too quickly at times.
Here is the channel, The Champion Eccentric. I'd love to get Reddit's opinion on the content already on my page, as well as the channel itself and its viability. Who knows; hopefully this will work as a form of exposure too.
Thanks for taking the time to check me out!
