And Father, for that matter

The Truth took from Hoenheim everything and everyone he'd ever known. Seems like a steep price to me.
Good parenting skills.
Truth doesn't take anything so long as a philosopher's stone is used. As I recall, Father and Hoenheim both saw Truth in the process of creating a philosopher's stone, which should have prevented any sacrifice on their part.
Father came from beyond the Gate and Hohenheim was infused with half of the stone made from the empire.
I really want a movie explaining Father and Truth more. Specially Father's origin and why Truth seems to be a massive troll that seems to enjoy fucking with people.
Father began as a homunculus in a bottle and was pulled from beyond the Gate of Truth by an alchemist in ancient Xerxes, with a ritual that used the blood of a nameless slave. Confined to a bottle, he talked with the slave and gave him a name - Hohenheim.
As for Truth - Father claims that Truth will mete out appropriate despair to keep people from getting uppity. Motherhood from Izumi, a leg to support his brother from Ed, a body to feel warmth from Al, eyes to see the future from Roy. But I'd take this with a mountain of salt since Truth is "you" and the only one Truth explicitly gives despair to is Father as that is what Father wanted (not to himself obviously).
Cool thanks. I was aware of most of what you said. Forgot about truth with his uppityness checking though. I still want to know what exactly father was behind the gate, and just more from Truth in general.
I'm so confused, can you explain that more if you've got the time?
I always thought it was kind of douchy that Truth took anything from Roy, he certainly didn't want to go talk to him. Seems like Truth should have been more 'well you don't really want to be here, so let me take something less useful for you.'
Although Truth didnt permanently disfigure Roy. Since he didnt willingly open the portal, his eyesight was able to be restored
I believe it's a natural law; Truth isn't capable of not taking something fitting as payment. It was merciful and did so in a reversible way in that case, but that's probably the best it can literally do.
Which is why his eyes was able to be healed with a philosophers stone. None of the others injures could be healed, honeheim couldn't heal that woman who trained the boys, he could only move around her organs to stop her from bleeding. Roy was forced, so he could be healed.
