The Friendship Kickoff in Hoops. I'm here to provide an explanation, some examples, and answer questions.

PinnedSick Guide

So I've already given this explanation to someone in the comments of a different post, but I've been encouraged to create my own so that everyone can learn.

Alright, in theory it's pretty simple. However it takes a lot of practice with a teammate who knows what they're doing to get it right consistently.

The guy in the back has the easiest job. He just boosts continually and jumps ONCE when he hits his teammate. No dodging. Straight line. Pretty simple. As a bonus, he can backflip AFTER hitting his teammate to maintain position in the hoop so that he's prepared for a ball that may find it's way towards the net on the kickoff.

NOTE: My friend in the Dominus does a slight turn before hitting me. Though this ends up working in these examples, it hasn't been as consistent in my experience. I think this is proven in the second example where my car was spun, forcing me to make a correction in the air.

The guy in the front does all the work. While on the ground, NO boost. He turns his vehicle towards the center and aims for the apex of the white line that forms an arc just in front of the spawn. Let go of the stick prior to being hit to avoid undesired turning in the air. As for gas, use FULL gas for a majority of the distance to the white line, then let go. The car should be about a 45 degree angle to the teammate, and the front part of the car on the apex of the white line. He jumps as soon as his teammate hits him. So they both jump at the same time; the time of impact. While in the air, aim your vehicle at the ball and begin boosting. This is where it's important to have solid car control in the air. Dodge into the ball.

The most difficult part of that process is the amount of gas to use and how far you must turn. Basically, positioning your vehicle prior to being hit. Over time you'll begin to grasp exactly where to place the vehicle, as muscle memory will form.

Also, timing the jump can be pretty difficult. Once hit, it can sometimes be unpredictable how your car be orientated. You have to have quick reflexes to reposition your vehicle to be pointing at the ball and begin boosting asap. Where you hit the ball is important as well, since you don't want to fire it straight into the incoming opponent. You want to hit it over them and into the backboard. If you play with others from the discord, it will become a regular occurrence to have both sides using the friendship kickoff. At that point, it's essentially a normal kickoff and comes down to who can do it better.

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask questions or for clarification.
