Migrating from web app to content driven Wordpress site. Looking for direction.

Hi guys,

Im an dev for a company wants to go from having a web app to having a Wordpress site since we are now producing a ton of blog content. Our current app is an Angular application that uses an API for product search and filtering. I was hoping to create a solution in which we can reduce our current web app just to an API and use Wordpress to manage our content as well use that API for a custom search. I've done a bit of research and came across some custom plugin tutorials but I wanted to see if those more experienced with Wordpress development could offer any best practice advice or point me in a good direction.
