Free after 3 parking is being abolished- Is there anything we can do? What are your thoughts?

Personally I make use of this a lot- any time we nip out for a meal or a social gathering I always park up in one of the council car parks. I think removing this is going to put a lot of people off, probably just forcing them to park in the residential zones. What do you guys reckon?
