does the nuss procedure help with rib flaring?

hello, today i spoke with my surgeon and we're talking about the next steps and what we can do about my pectus excavatum. he said he is willing to do the surgery but he said i have to take into consideration that the nuss procedure could make my rib flaring even worse. Has this happened to anyone? My ribs are flared pretty severely but i always thought the nuss procedure would help bring them down. right after the surgery were your ribs worse and then did they go down more after a while?
