What is the meaning/message behind the Monogatari series?

After watching the Kizumonogatari movies I decided to watch the Monogatari series in airing order as recommended. So far I've really enjoyed the shows and appreciate its unique style. The only question I have is what is the show about? Is there any message, moral, maybe lessons the show is trying to tell? Or is it just a cool story with no real meaning?
