Is ryzen 5 good ?

I'm trying to upgrade my PC but I don't know which cpu I should get to pair up with my gtx 1060. Some people tell me the Ryzen 5 is the best midrange cpu even better than Intel. Can you guys help me find out what's the best cpu for 200-250$ ? Ryzen 5 ? I5 ? Fx-8370 ?

Edit : I'm using this PC for gaming
