Hiding Photoshop Creative Cloud during action on MacOS

Previously I was using Photoshop CS 5 on a Mac running 10.8. I was able to start a batch action, option-click the desktop, and Photoshop would hide. When batching thousands of images not having the computer try to draw each image sped things up considerably.

I'm now running Creative Cloud on MacOS 10.12. I've tried everything I can think of but can't get Photoshop to hide while running an action. As a result, large batches take longer with the added annoyance of having the screen flash at it redraws. Hiding the application behind a Finder window helps the flashing but not apparently the speed.

Does anyone have any tips on how to get it to hide while batching? Thanks!
